Coaching for Autistic Adults
Many autistic adults spent years learning to adapt, long before they knew why. This adaptation is called masking. Everyone adapts to some degree in different situations, you might act differently at work than with close friends. What sets masking apart is the enormous energy it costs, which often leads to burnout over time.

Sensory overload is another central theme. Light, sound, fabric, or social situations that are barely noticeable to others can feel like constant bombardment to you. If this state continues too long, it can lead to a meltdown or a shutdown, both nervous system responses to overload.
Many clients come with a late diagnosis, sometimes not until their forties or fifties. That often brings its own grieving process, for the years spent without an explanation for their own perception and behavior.
What coaching changes
A space without masking
From here, it becomes possible to recognize what you actually need instead of continuing to override it.
Recognizing early signs
Shaping your day around your sensory processing and catching the early signs of a meltdown before it happens.
Language for boundaries
Finding the words to express your boundaries with colleagues, family, or partners.
Coaching doesn't replace an autism diagnosis or therapeutic treatment. It complements them and translates what you know about yourself into a life that fits you.
